With voyeuristic intention

rhps
Let's hear it for Magenta! Oh, how I love magenta!

And the magenta in Markham Roberts' space featured in the May HB is as bangin as you want

And there's plenty o' green velvet, too

I am smitten with that dining room and those chairs, the color and the layering, texture and color of the living room and I'm peepin at some more of his work

What have you been takin a peep at?

Why not in the kitchen

instead of the bedroom?

against the backsplash
or on that wall to the left

What if these mirrors were in the kitchen and not in the guest bedroom like I first thought?

And I put these in there

That may be some kitchen accessorizing I could get behind.

My mind is racing with decorating ideas for Casa Blanca. It's time to catch up.

My first time!

Sketch42 chick is hosting a Blogger Tag Sale over at Sketch42blog. I'm new to blogging so this is the first time I've participated in any blogger community event. It's an online sale where design junkies and thrifty ho's clean their closets and secret warehouses. I have lost the keys to my warehouses (only temporarily, I'm sure), so I can't really break out the goods, but I do have a few odds and ends laying around Casa Blanca that I'll use for trade bait. Here's my inventory. All vintage. All negotiable!

ceramic elephant side table/125.
pair blanc de chine lamps/125.ea
brass cranes/12. SOLD
brass doorknocker towel bar/50.
painted clay vase/10.
hand painted ceramic dove/15.
set4 ethnic dancers glasses/5.

1. Elephant side table - super cute! Great condition. Nice size.
2. Blanc de Chine lamps - beauties! Newly restored and rewired with all brass hardware. Throw on a black shade and put one anywhere!
3. Brass cranes - pretty chotskies! SOLD!
4. Pagoda doorknocker - fab! I was going to use it for a hand towel bar in the powder room, but it's not    working with the wallcovering. It's got a beautiful patina or how about powder coated! Yes? But what color?
5. Painted clay vase - mod! Danish modernish.
6. Hand painted ceramic dove - pretty, pretty! The hand painting is gorg and it's signed and dated '79.
7. Set 4 ethnic dancers glasses - whimsical! White frosted and metallic.

Hit me up with any questions or offers. I'm easy!

As my world is turning

Me and my glamorous friends are hanging by my new pool!

With stacks and stacks of magazines, pitchers of limeaide, watermelon and pitas and hummus galore. Plus, rearranging furniture in the Florida room and measuring out space in the foyer for my new sheep  (Maybe. Wishful thinking. Second chance.) I'm pretty sure there was talk about sifting through the secret warehouse or running through the thrifties while we're here, but that ain't happening. The pool's the thing.

Before coming home from Philly, I visited Robin in Atlanta and worked with her on picking out some elements for her master suite reno. We hit up the go-to fabric emporiums and got her covered, plus I cut a few pieces to consider for my projects at Casa Blanca.

(I just named my house.)

I couldn't wait to get back to this joint with another design junkie to talk to and hammer out a few more details!

Click on images to enlarge and really check out that gold leaf finish for the table!

I picked my first gardenias!

rooms to go mirror from 1990s
Imma gonna try to get that mirror painted white this week. And maybe hung next trip home.

table finish
pillow fabric & table finish
My little table is going to be painted and gold leafed. That is the sample finish. The underside of the table will be glossy magenta. Pillows in that ziggy fabric for the blue velvet chairs.

won't it be pretty?

new pillows. the dotted ones.
I picked up the two new pillows for the sofa. And decided on fabric for two pillows for the black leather chaise - that blue blob in the corner back there. And the woodblock print resting will be hanging.

bold and beautiful
is darker than it looks
Connecting the dots - Okay, the vintage butterfly needlepoint is going to be a pillow on the bed in the room with the blue dresser. The black dotty will be the coverlet for the bed and the tie-dyed chintz is going to be the back side of the coverlet. Whew! Imma thinking CUTE!

table base with plans to cover the tabletop
That is a bamboo table base with a top that I'm going to have upholstered in a shiny black leather. I have those two woven leather chairs and they look good there. I do need rugs for that space.

That's it. Days of my life.

I have a real, and actual, need for these

graphic mirrors

over the blue lacquered dresser in the guest room.

And I have a real, and actual, bid on my sheepish friend!! Live auction starts tomorrow at 10a.m. My lot comes up around 2:30. My maximum bid doesn't even meet the lowest estimated price, but I'm hopeful there's no one else who has a place for a big ol' ramming bench. Fingers crossed,  beotches!

Progress report

I am moving forward in my pillow situation. A couple of them have come back from the workroom and when I get back to Florida, I will be excited to see how they will look in their domains. Two of these for the sofa

Will be partying with my highly coveted Thorny Rose in a guest bedroom

of the young and the restless

And I just found these textiles at Material Culture in Philly

There might be something there that works for me.

I'm beginning to feel more confident about pillows. I'm not so sure about Mr. Sheep, however

kissy kissy on yer sweet face

Mr. Man say 'what?what?' when I show him, in all my excitement, what I will be bidding on. He doesn't see a place for that guy in our house. But I say 'hells to the yea' there's a place for him. Right here in the foyer

sure looks like this space is missing a sheep, to me

Perfect place.

I told him to trust me, and if he doesn't trust me, then trust Jonathan Adler - and I can't get enough of this - "when it comes to home decorating, the wife is always right (unless the husband is gay)".

Wouldn't that cheerful sheep be perf looking out the glass door?

I want to scratch yer eyeballs out

clik to take a closer look
In a house that really didn't do anything for me, this room - THAT chair - made me want to like it. The tile of the fireplace surround, the rug, the tiger, big furry chair, windows. I was getting a good feeling. Until I spied those orchids in a cylinder vase. NOOOOOOOOOooooooooo...... out! Get out! And take your precious little girl portrait friend with you. Back to the room you belong in. You're creating tension... and not in a good way.

You two go live down the hall, here

And don't be mucking up this room either with your cylinder vase

Thank you.
